WASHING THE OLD FASHIONED WAY

Washing in Victorian times was a lengthy and tiring affair but 'cleanliness was next to Godliness'.  The green soap was grated and used in conjunction with a dolly tub and a posser.  Then the rinsed clothes were put through the mangle before hanging outside.  Thank goodness for a modern automatic washing machine!
