On Saturday 18 March, children baked scones at the museum. Our baking team led the activity and showed children just how it was done. The idea was that the children took home scones in a presentation box to give to Mums on Mother's Day. Throughout the weekend, cream scones were available in our Tearoom allowing visitors to treat the special people in their lives.
A number of children came to the museum to bake scones on Saturday. They went home with scones in a presentation box to present to their loved ones. We served cream scones in the Tea Room all weekend for all those celebrating Mothers' Day and those just enjoying cream scones!
Our 'Weaving Magic' weekend was due to begin on Saturday 11 March but snow defeated us. The display was open on Sunday 12 March and the following weekend. The weavers were on hand to answer many questions and demonstrate using the handlooms. Additionally, we were able to temporarily display a number of items usually packed away in our Textiles and Mills Collection. Visitors commented on how interesting all the artefacts were.
