Here's a list of events we've held at the Colne Valley Museum:

EVENTS 2007:

January 20th and 21st.
Bread baking demonstration.
Our team are making brown bread this weekend--oh! that wonderful smell!

February 17th and 18th
Oranges and Lemons--making marmalade and pancakes.

March 10th and 11th
Just add water... National Science Week event.

March 31st and April 1st
Bread baking, Traditional Crafts and Easter Activities.

May 12th and 13th
Children's D.I.Y. weekend (part of the Golcar Lily celebrations.)

June 2nd and 3rd.
Laundry Blues--Aunt Lizzie does her washing.

Sept 8th and 9th
Tea for Two and Tales Heritage Open Days event. Scone baking in the Victorian kitchen and Cream Teas for sale in our first floor tea rooms upstairs, listening to traditional tales. Sponsored by Yorkshire Tea.

October 6th and 7th
Colne Valley Museum Comes Alive!
A craft and working weekend--open at 12.30pm both days.

October 27th and 28th
Hallowe'en Magic Weekend
Lots of close up magic for all the family.

November 3rd and 4th
Parkin Bake
Baking demonstration in our Victorian kitchen.

November 25th
Stir Up Sunday
Help Mrs. Sykes make her Christmas puddings!

December 1st & 2nd, 8th & 9th
Christmas Fayre
With traditional fun and games, lots of prizes, and Father Christmas himself!

Bread Baking demonstration

From 19th January 2008 to 20th January 2008

Our team will be baking brown bread this weekend--oh, that wonderful smell! Opening at 12.30pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Havercakes!

From 23rd February 2008 to 24th February 2008

Find out how oatcakes were made in the traditional way in our Victorian kitchen. (Do you know who were the 'Havercake Boys'?)

"Domestic Science"

From 15th March 2008 to 16th March 2008

A National Science and Engineering Week event. Can you make your breakfast bounce? Have a go at Money Laundering! Find out how the bubbles got into the bread! Fun experiments and activities for all the family including Easter Craft Activities. Bread-making demonstration in the Victorian kitchen--buy some for your tea! Open early at 12.30pm.

Sampler Workshop

From 12th April 2008 to 13th April 2008

A chance to do your own thing! Using the period examples for inspiration, or maybe creating your own ideas--come along and join our friendly craft group for a DIY afternoon. No booking required. There will also be handling sessions of our archive textile samplers.

Children's DIY Weekend

From 10th May 2008 to 11th May 2008

Lots of fun activities for the family--things to make and do and take home.
Our bread team will be baking the special 'Golcar Lily Loaf' in the Victorian kitchen on Golcar Lily Day (Saturday May 10th) when we'll be open at 10.30am.
Normal opening times 2-5pm on Sunday May 11th.

Strawberry Fair

From 21st June 2008 to 22nd June 2008

Find out how to preserve seasonal fruits and flowers using traditional methods. Lots of nice things to taste and buy!
